JOSE MANUEL CARRENO International Summer Intensive - August 2011 -   Super-Star Carreno is joining Robert for an extraordinary  Intensive. The celebrated dancer from American Ballet Theatre  is the Artistic President and will have special coaching for pre-professional dancers from August 4 -  27, 2011 in Sarasota, Fl.

He will also be joined by celebrated teacher Shir Lee Wu, from Columbus, OH, who regularly coaches Jeoffrey Ballet, YAGP and headed the Sarasota Ballet School under de Warren. Robert de Warren will offer special repertoire interpretation coaching and the faculty will also prepare artists for compeitions and auditions. De Warren is on the Honorary Committee of USA Dance Compeition in Jackson Miss. and a former member of the jury in Varna where he joined Natalia Makarova and Massako Ohya.

Participants  will  join Jose M. Carreno and his artists at Sarasota Opera House as part of a special Summer Dance Festival, during the final week.

OCTOBER 24, 2010 - Logan Hall, British Institute, University of London, London - Toos Foundation honors Robert de Warren for his contribution to the dance Culuture of Iran. The Performance will include a wide panorama of tribal, mystic and courtly dances and music.

DECEMBER 11, 2010 - The Nutcracker in Robert's exciting production returns to the Sarasota Opera House.

DESTINY'S WALTZ - In Step with Giants by Robert de Warren:  a memoir spanning his childhood to the end of a ballet era, the passing of Rudolf Nureyev in 1993. Chapters include his childhood in Uruguay/Argentina, carrer in dance, Royal Ballet, etc. Years in Iran, dirctor/choreographer, UK, Milan, USA, Hong Kong and more.

IRAN REMEMBERED- Where to Next? by Robert de Warren -  a comparison of de Warren's experiences in Iran and the West's mistaken appreciation of this country and its people. A valuable compilation of years of research in all areas of Iran,  documenting a wealth of ethnic material including, tribal dance and music, mystic and daily ceremonial, dress and ornamentation. An indispensible work concerning geopolitical issues that touch us all.

November 2008 - Eastern Arts Foundation invites Robert de Warren to coach the International Folklore Dance Company of Brigham Young University, in dances of Kurdistan, and to set a Baluch Bracelet Dance for their performing soloists.  These works will be performed at Salt Lake City's International Dance Festival in December.

May  2008 - South American Tour to Montevideo, Buenos Aires and Santiago. A "cultural ambassador".  Robert de Warren will speak on his dancing career and choreographic creations.

December 2009 -  Robert de Warren's NUTCRACKER returns to Sarasota Ballet

Repeating  their great succes, Robert de Warren and Jack Dowd will bring their joint creation to David Goldstein's lively score, to the Goddard Arts Center in October 2009.  The exhibition of the sculpural masterpiece LAST CALL will open ten weeks before the opening night of the ballet in late October.  Look out for announcements for featured dance artists and more details.

LAST CALL - THE DANCE  World premiere at the Mertz Theatre, Sarasota - Audience gives Robert de Warren's new creation a standing ovation.  Intense applaus at each performance showed deep appreciation for this master's world premiere and his last creation for the Sarasota Ballet. Mr. de Warren has retired. "I am looking forward to many more new creations, without the 24/7 duties of an artistic director."

Mr. de Warren is planning to set his choreography worldwide. Jack Dowd, the famous American sculptor on whose monumental creation de Warren based his new work, is excited and looking foward to a new collaboration: "Andy Warhol- The Dance". Composer David Goldstein created a brilliant score for Last Call and Robert de Warren is already planning the new work.

March 21, 2007  Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, Sarasota  COPPELIA , at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota, has a rousing reception. Guest Artist JOSE MANUEL CARRENO  joined Sarasota Ballet for the third time this season. "I love Mr. de Warren's productions and choreography" he said to ABC TV.  Lauren Strongin, the resident ballerina and Robert himself as Dr. Coppelius, garnered enourmous audience support and a standing ovation at each performance. This production is outstanding not only for the stars, but for a company of very high artistic and technical standard. The set designs and costumes were extraordinary.

March 1, 2007 - ART EXHIBIT !  Longboat Key Center for the Arts hosts an exhibition of Robert's designs for scenery and costumes

LORIS TJEKNAVORIAN, the composer of OTHELLO, arrives from Armenia for the first performance of his ballet in 25 years. He will attend opening night at the Sarasota premiere on October 20, 2006 at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

Sarasota, Fl. October 10, 2006 - The Arts Council of Sarasota presents ROBERT DE WARREN  with the "Leadership Award" for his enormous contribution to the Art of Dance and for the Arts in the Community at a ceremony which took place at the Historic Asolo, the 17th century opera house which has just been refurbished and opened to the public, as part of the FSU Ringling Museum.

The Sarasota Community Archives have announced that Robert de Warren is to be inducted to the HALL OF FAME with a special half hour DVD which will comprise episodes from his life: childhood to present. This is a very special honor and takes place in recognition of Robert's considerable contribution during his thirteen years as Artistic Director of ther Sarasota Ballet of Florida, in April 2007. Copies of the Video are placed in all Sarasota County Public Libraries.

Sarasota, Fl. June 15, 2006 - ROBERT DE WARREN  announces his retirement from The Sarasota Ballet of Florida at the closing of the forthcoming 2006/007 Season. He has been the Artistic Director for 13 seasons and also acting CEO  for four, from 2000 t0 2004.

Mr. de Warren will continue to be available to the Company for guest choreography and to supervise his extensive repertory. He will also be staging many of his works on Ballet Companies in Europe and both North and South America

!! * JOSE MANUEL CARRENO, the international star of American Ballet Theatre,  celebrates Sarasota Ballet's 15th Annyversary at a Gala performance at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.  Partenering the young ballerina Lauren Strongin in "Le Corsaire", they garnered enormous audience applause. The entire evening was a tribute to the high achievements of the company under Robert de Warren's extraordinary leadership.  March 21, 2006, Sarasota.

OTHELLO  choreographed for the Northern Ballet Theatre in the late 1980s is brought back in an updated and dramatic new version of this masterpiece.  Shakespeare's spirit is forcefully put forward to a commissioned score by Armenian/Iranian composer Loris Tjeknavorian (Vienna Academy of Music and pupil of Carl Orff).  New set designs by Steve Rubin (popular with New York Ballet companies) and costumes by Robert de Warren himself.  FSU Center for the Performing Arts, Sarasota, October 20-21 and 28 - 29 2006

CARMINA BURANA received standing ovations. One of America's only renditions of Carl Orff's masterpiece, with full symphony, chorus and ballet this season, Sarasota Ballet  presented a sensational performance.  The strength and originality of the choreography and direction produced a powerful interpretation of the 13th Century chants created by defrocked Benedictine monks which the composer took as inspiration.
